A Little Love for the Island we Call Home
Every stay can make a little difference.
Every stay at Sweet Searenity helps us give back to the sea turtles and the community that make Topsail Island so special.

At Sweet Searenity, we believe there's something special about Topsail Island. It's more than beautiful beaches, salty breezes, and days spent by the ocean. It's a community that cares deeply about protecting the place it calls home.
For us, that connection started with a moment we'll never forget: witnessing a sea turtle hatching.
That experience opened our eyes to something truly special about this island and inspired us to find a way to give a little love back.
Today, we're proud to support the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and its mission to protect and care for these incredible creatures.
With every stay at Sweet Searenity, we're turning a little island love into something meaningful.
🐢 Where Our Story Began
We'll never forget one of our very first experiences on Topsail Island: watching a sea turtle hatch right outside our house at Public access #8.
There was something incredible about seeing these tiny turtles begin their journey toward the ocean, surrounded by people who had come together to witness and protect such a special moment.
We were amazed by the experience, but just as moved by the community itself. Folks from all over the place lined up their chairs and waited for hours to see these little guys hatch. The care, dedication, and love people have for these turtles showed us that Topsail Island is a place where protecting the natural beauty around us really matters.
We fell in love with Surf City and Topsail Island almost instantly. And as we learned more about the work being done to protect its sea turtles, we realized we wanted to be part of that effort, too.
We didn't just want to own a home on this beautiful island. We wanted to contribute to what makes it so special.
That's how our little initiative began.

A Sea Turtle Adoption in Honor of Our Guests

How Sweet Searenity Is Giving Back
We kept coming back to one simple thought: if we're fortunate enough to share this beautiful island with our guests, we should also find a way to help protect it. So we decided to make giving back part of the Sweet Searenity experience.
A Donation From Every Stay
We donate a portion of our rental proceeds to the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center to help support the incredible work they do. It's our way of contributing to a cause that means so much to the island and to us.
A Sea Turtle Adoption in Honor of Our Guests
We adopt a sea turtle on behalf of our rental guests. It's a small but meaningful way to recognize that everyone who visits Topsail Island becomes part of its story. We hope it helps our guests feel connected to the island beyond their time at the beach and inspires them to care about the wildlife that makes this place so special.
Meet our First Sea Turtle Adoption
We are excited to introduce you to "Kolache". Our first legitimate renter of our house, we adopted this little guy on behalf our renter. To share this special guy, we sent a thank you box to our first renters introducing them to Kolache and what their stay at our home inspired us to do. We'll be following Kolache's progress at Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Center and can't wait to see him return to his real home!

A Little Goes a Long Way
We know we're just one small vacation rental, and our contribution is only one piece of a much bigger effort. But we believe that small acts of care matter. And if we can use Sweet Searenity to help support a cause we believe in, then we're happy to do our part. For us, this initiative isn't about making a big statement. It's about doing something meaningful in a place we're proud to call home.
How You Can Help Protect Topsail Island's Sea Turtles
Whether you're visiting for a weekend or lucky enough to call Topsail Island home, there are simple ways to help protect its sea turtles.
Keep our beaches clean.
Take all trash, food packaging, and personal belongings with you when you leave the beach. Even small pieces of litter can pose a danger to wildlife.
Respect marked nests and protected areas. If you see a marked sea turtle nest, give it plenty of space and follow all posted instructions.
Keep beaches dark at night. Artificial lights can disorient nesting sea turtles and hatchlings. Follow local lighting ordinances and use turtle-friendly lighting where required.
Fill in holes and remove beach equipment.
Holes in the sand and unattended chairs, tents, and other items can create obstacles for nesting turtles and hatchlings.
Give sea turtles plenty of space.
If you encounter a turtle or hatchlings, observe from a safe distance and never touch, chase, or interfere with them.
Follow local guidance.
If you encounter an injured turtle, a nesting turtle, or hatchlings in distress, contact the appropriate local sea turtle responders rather than attempting to intervene yourself.
Spread the word.
Sometimes the simplest way to make a difference is to share what you've learned and encourage others to care for the place they're visiting. Small actions can make a meaningful difference when a whole community gets involved.
